Surprised that they are so comfortable (although I had to resend the first pair back Amazon did great in the exchange) These shoes are as comfortable as my husband's Wolverine's and you can go pertty much all day and they not bad at all! I would highly recommend these but they tend to run a half size larger. I ordered a 10 WIDE and they were too big so all they had was 9 1/2 regular fit and they were perfect!!!!Read more >>

Pointe Ballet Shoes And The Morton's FootA Morton's Foot may present problems when sizing pointe ballet shoes. This type of foot is commonly called having a long second toe, although that is the misconception. The Morton's Foot carries a long second metatarsal bone, which will be the long forefoot bone prior to toe bone.
An individual having a longer second toe will not necessarily therefore, have a Morton's Foot. And, a Morton's Foot may well not show an extended second toe.
The normal condition for the foot is that this first metatarsal bone could be the longest. This allows the "tripod" weight distribution, of the body weight. The tripod points are the heel, the top of your first metatarsal bone, at the big toe joint, and the pinnacle of your fifth metatarsal bone, near the little toe joint.
In ballet, the extra weight distribution is a little different, as the dancer stands "poised to move". The weight is slightly more shifted to the front of the foot. The heel carries weight, but could release it easily. When the second metatarsal bone may be the longest, the body weight of the body presses down at the top of that bone.
