Timberland Men's Expertise LT Hiker Steel Toe Hiking Shoes,Dark Grey Leather/Fabric,7 M US Review

I was very disappointed in these boots. They are not as comfortable as my previous Timberland Pro titanium toe and started falling apart at the seams connected to the sole in under 7 months of light use. By light use I mean walking to work from my car, use at work as an Engineer, and then back to the car and then home. So not a lot of climbing and hiking here. Granted they cost less, but come on, the upper is separating from the sole for crying out loud. I do not recommend these.

Do GPS Sneakers Actually Exist?

When GPS sneakers were first introduced in 2007 there was clearly a lot of public scoffing. Who needs GPS devices on their own feet? What an impractical product--dumbest concept of the year! It's now 2011; shall we be held ready for them yet?

The idea for GPS sneakers first stumbled on Isaac Daniels back in 2002 when he received a call that his child had gone missing from soccer practice. Mr. Daniels was with a business trip and immediately hopped a plane back home to discover that there had been a mix-up: His son had taken an unscheduled bathroom break and have been separated from his class.

Mr. Daniels was relieved, however it set his mind to thinking. What if his son had actually gone missing? Wasn't there something which could be implemented to help locate him? The answer ' GPS sneakers.

The idea was that the GPS unit on the underside of the shoe might be activated by depressing control button. This unit a battery life of about 24 hours and would continually signal before button was depressed a second time. Mr. Daniels suggested this may be perfect for hikers, outdoorsmen and children--the first couple of in case these folks were lost while browsing and the latter for extreme cases like abduction.

The first GPS sneakers were marketed by the Fele Corporation in 2007 and retailed for $325. They were the sneakers that got trashed in the press. Only a few hiking and travel websites took them serious
